A study by the You Should Know newsletter, analyzing 2012 Bureau of Labor Statistics, found that logging is the most dangerous occupation in America, with 127.8 deaths for 100,000 workers.
At White & Stradley, PLLC, we’ve seen employees from Durham and across North Carolina in all sorts of occupations suffer serious workplace injuries. And we’ve helped them pursue the workers’ comp they’re entitled to.
Some other particularly dangerous occupations, according to the study:
- Construction workers (10th most dangerous)
- Refuse and material collectors (6th most dangerous)
- Metal workers (5th most dangerous)
- Roofers (4th most dangerous)
North Carolina’s workers’ compensation law requires all businesses with more than three employees to carry workers’ compensation insurance. There are some exceptions, including for certain railroads and farms, but generally speaking businesses must obtain this insurance, no matter their industry.
Workers’ comp is designed to help those in Durham and throughout the state who suffered workplace injuries. No matter your industry or job title, White & Stradley, PLCC can help you navigate the system and pursue the compensation you are entitled to.
If you live in Durham or any other community in North Carolina, please contact White & Stradley, PLLC today for a free consultation.
